7 WAYS TO CARE FOR YOUR SKIN BEFORE BEDTIME

IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO CARE FOR YOUR FACE BEFORE GOING TO BED
It is not surprising that one of the common practice of taking care of your face before going to bed is to wash your face and remove all traces of makeup. The face is one of the most sensitive areas of the skin. Being prone to pimples, acne and breakout, and in the long term, wrinkles, we need to pay special attention to our faces on a regular nightly basis. In this article, Tropika Club dives deep into the seven key ways that you should care for your face before going into dreamland.

  1. Washing your face
  2. Relax, give yourself time, and enjoy the process
  3. Use warm water instead of cold water
  4. Invest in a facial brush
  5. Use serum after washing
  6. Use a face mask regularly
  7. Get enough sleep!
1. WASHING YOUR FACE
Washing your face is, without doubt, the most basic, yet the most essential step in caring for your face. Regardless of whether you wear makeup or otherwise, you need to wash your face before going to bed. Washing your face helps with the following:

  1. Clearing your pore – when you remove makeup or impurities from your skin, your pore naturally opens up and allows your skin to breathe.
  2. Eliminate oil from your skin – you face will likely have oil on it towards the end of the day. If left unwashed, the oil can potentially clog pores. This causes your face to break out in pimples. Your skin can also end up being dull and unhealthy-looking.
  3. Lower the risk of wrinkles – Nobody likes wrinkles and fine lines to form over the face. By washing your face, you prevent any premature ageing of your skin and thereby lowering the possibilities of wrinkles forming due to the lack of moisture on the skin.
2. RELAX, GIVE YOURSELF TIME, AND ENJOY THE PROCESS
Try not to rush through the process. Instead, make washing your face a priority every evening, even when it is late at night, and you are feeling tired. By allocating some time to care for your skin, you can pay attention to your skin and give it the care and attention that it deserves.

3. USE WARM WATER INSTEAD OF COLD WATER
Always try to use warm water to wash your face. The warm water not only relaxes your skin, but it also helps to open the pores of your face. This helps to clear them of dirt, grime, oil and impurities that will encourage bacteria and causes pimples and breakouts. If you use warm water, remember not to use hot water, and this may cause irritation to the skin.

4. INVEST IN A FACIAL BRUSH
You might have been using your hands to wash your face all along. While this is okay, a facial cleansing brush can provide an excellent way to smoother skin and clearer pores. A facial brush is better able to help scrub and exfoliate your skin, remove dead skin, and help prevent any pimple breakouts. One point to note though: if you are investing in a facial brush, remember to have it cleaned or even better, replace it after a few months. This is because dirt and bacteria can grow on the brush due to the presence of water and humid conditions.

5. USE SERUM AFTER WASHING
The serum is a skincare product you can apply to your skin after cleansing but before moisturising with the intent of delivering powerful ingredients directly into the skin. The serum is particularly suited to this task because it is made up of smaller molecules that can penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. Serums also offer a highly concentrated blast of nutrients directly to your skin. To use, apply a few drops after you wash your face but before you apply moisturiser. Serums absorb deep into your skin, rather than sitting on the surface like moisturisers. Serums work great for specific concerns like acne, dry skin, brightness, and wrinkles. After you wash your face, apply a pea-sized amount of serum to your cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin.

6. USE A FACE MASK REGULARLY
The purpose of a face mask depends on its type. Some masks are designed for drying out excess sebum in combination and oily skin types, while others replenish lost moisture in dry skin. Some face masks treat uneven skin tone, and others may contain exfoliants that help remove dead skin cells. Sheet masks are used a bit differently. These should always be applied before the rest of your skincare routine. However, the product that remains after you remove the mask is intended to be massaged into your skin, so you’ll need to do these after your shower, so you don’t accidentally rinse it away.

7. GET ENOUGH SLEEP!
A good night’s sleep can mean good skin health because when you’re sleep-deprived, your body makes more of the stress hormone cortisol. Elevated levels of cortisol can lead to increased stress and inflammation in the body, hurting your skin’s quality. While you’re sleeping, the body’s hydration re-balances. Skin can recover moisture, while excess water in general in the body is processed for removal. You are not getting enough sleep results in poor water balance, leading to puffy bags under your eyes and under-eye circles, as well as dryness and more visible wrinkles.
